A shop built around a workbench.

DH Aquarium is a Clayton South aquarium workshop with a shopfront attached — not the other way round.

Most aquarium shops buy tanks in. We build them. In our workshop at 12 Libbett Avenue, Clayton South, low-iron glass is cut, edge-polished, bonded and braced into Aqualuxe tanks — from a 200 mm cube for a desk to 1800 × 750 × 750 mm systems with cabinets and sumps to match. Every tank is filled and water-tested before it leaves.

Building tanks changes how you buy stock. We know what 750 mm of water does to glass, silicone and stands, so the brands on our shelves — ADA, Chihiros, OASE, Eheim, Fluval and the rest — are there because they hold up, not because the catalogue was glossy. If we wouldn't plumb it into our own builds, we don't sell it.

The shop runs six days a week — Tuesdays the doors shut and the workshop takes over; that's when tanks get built. Come in with a photo of your space, a stocking list, or just the itch for a first planted tank. Someone who builds for a living will tell you plainly what to run, and what to skip.

Every seam is a decision.
